ఏది నిజం సీరీస్‌లో భాగంగా ఈ వారం మిమ్మల్ని రావణుడిని పూజించే గ్రామానికి తీసుకుపోతున్నాం. ఆశ్చర్యంగా ఉందా... అవును ఆ ఊరిలో రావణుని పూజించకపోతే ఊరు మొత్తానికి అరిష్టం దాపురిస్తుందని ఆ గ్రామ ప్రజలు నమ్ముతారు. మధ్యప్రదేశ్‌కి చెందిన ఉజ్జయిని జిల్లాలోని ఈ గ్రామం పేరు చిక్కాలి.

సాంప్రదాయం ప్రకారం ప్రతి చైత్ర నవరాత్రులలో దశమి నాడు ఈ గ్రామస్తులు రావణుడిని పూజిస్తుంటారు. ఈ సమయంలో రావణుడి గౌరవార్థం ఒక జాతర కూడా చేస్తారు. ఆ రోజు ఊరి ప్రజలంతా రామ రావణ యుద్ధంపై నాటకం కూడా వేస్తారు. ఈ జాతర ఎంత పేరు పొందిందంటే, ఈ కార్యక్రమానికి చుట్టుపక్కల ఊర్ల నుంచి భారీ సంఖ్యలో జనం వస్తుంటారు.

ఈ ఆలయ పూజారి బాబూభాయ్ రావణ్. రావణుడికి సమర్పించే పూజలన్నింటిని ఈయన నిర్వహిస్తుంటారు కాబట్టి తన పేరు కూడా బాబుభాయ్ రావణగా మారిపోయింది. తనకు రావణుడి ఆశీర్వాదం ఉందని ఆయన నమ్మకం. ఊరికేదయినా సమస్య వచ్చిందంటే ప్రజలు అతని వద్దకు వెళ్లి పరిష్కారం అడుగుతారు.

అప్పుడు రావణుడి విగ్రహం ముందు బాబూభాయ్ రావణ కూర్చుని ప్రజల కోరిక తీరేంతవరకు నిరాహార దీక్షలో కూర్చుంటారు. ఒకసారి ఈ గ్రామం, చుట్టుపక్కల ఊర్లు నీటి కొరతతో సతమతమయినప్పుడు బాబుబాయ్ రావణుడి విగ్రహం ముందు కూర్చుని పూజ ప్రారంభించాడు. ఆశ్చర్యకరంగా 3 రోజుల తర్వాత ఆ ప్రాంతంలో కుంభవృష్టి కురిసింది.

ఈ ప్రాంతంలో రావణుడిని మాత్రమే కొలుస్తారని, చాలా సంవత్సరాలుగా ఈ సంప్రదాయం కొనసాగుతూ వస్తోందని కైలాష్ నారాయణ వ్యాస్ అనే భక్తుడు చెప్పారు. ఒకసారి ఏదో కారణంగా ఊరి ప్రజలు చైత్ర దశమి రోజున రావణుడికి జాతర, పూజలు చేయకుండా ఉండిపోయారట. తర్వాత అగ్నిప్రమాదంలో చిక్కుకుని ఊరంతా తగలబడి పోయిందట. గ్రామస్తులు అందరూ కలిసి మంటలార్పడానికి ప్రయత్నించినా ఒకే ఒక్క ఇంటిని మంటల్లో చిక్కుకుపోకుండా కాపాడారట.

పద్మా జైన్ అనే మరో మహిళ కూడా ఈ నమ్మకాన్ని బలపరుస్తుంది. రావణుడిని చైత్ర దశమి రోజున పూజించకపోవడంతో ఆ ఊరు రెండు సార్లు తగలబడిపోయిందని చెబుతుంది. ఒకసారి రావణుడి జాతర జరుపకుండా, జాతర నిర్వహించకుండా ఊరు ఎలా మంటల్లో తగులబడుతూందో రికార్డు చేయాలని ప్రయత్నించారు కాని అదేసమయంలో పెను తుఫాను వచ్చి మొత్తాన్ని ఊడ్చేసింది.
