నేడు శ్రీరామ నవమి. శ్రీరామ నవమిని దేశవ్యాప్తంగా భక్తిశ్రద్ధలతో జరుపుకుంటున్నారు. అసలు శ్రీరాముడి జీవితాన్ని చూస్తే ఎన్నో సమస్యల సుడిగుండాల్లో ఆయన ఈదినట్లు అర్థమవుతుంది. ఆయన జీవితమంతా సమస్యలతోనే సాగుతుంది. ఒక్కసారి ఆయన జీవితంలోకి తొంగి చూస్తే... తొలుత తన పిన్ని కారణంగా, పితృవాక్య పరిపాలనను అనుసరించి ఆయన తన రాజ్యాన్ని వదులుకోవాల్సి వస్తుంది. అడవుల పాలవ్వాల్సి వస్తుంది. అడవుల్లో శ్రీరాముడి చెంతనే ఉన్న భార్య సీతమ్మను రావణుడు ఎత్తుకుపోతాడు. దాంతో ఆమె కోసం ఆయన అంతా గాలిస్తాడు.
ఆ తర్వాత ఆమె జాడను కనుగొని తనకు ఇష్టం లేకపోయినా యుద్ధం చేస్తాడు. అలా సీతమ్మను తనతో తోడ్కెని రాజ్యానికి వెళితే, అక్కడ తన సతీమణి సీతను గురించి ఎన్నో అపవాదులు వినాల్సి వస్తుంది. ఈ దశలో గర్భవతిగా ఉన్న సీతను తిరిగి అడవుల పాల్జేస్తాడు రాముడు. ఆ తర్వాత తన పుత్రులతో యుద్ధం చేయాల్సి వస్తుంది. ఆ భీకర యుద్ధ సమయంలో సీత రణస్థలికి రావడం, పుత్రులను రామునికి అప్పగించి ఆమె భూమాత ఒడిలోకి వెళ్లిపోవడం... ఇలా రాముడి జీవితం ముగుస్తుంది. ఆయన జీవితాన్ని గమనిస్తే ఎన్నో సమస్యల సుడిగుండంలో సాగినట్లు స్పష్టంగా అర్థమవుతుంది. ఐనప్పటికీ భారతదేశంలో కోట్లమంది రాముడినే ఎందుకు కొలుస్తారు.... ఆయననే ఆదర్శంగా ఎందుకు తీసుకుంటారు...?

అశ్వమేథ యాగంలో దశరథ మహారాజు గుర్రాన్ని దేశటనం కోసం విడుస్తారు. అది దేశంలో నలుమూలలా తిరిగి చివరికి రాజ్యానికి చేరుతుంది. సహజంగా అశ్వమేథ యాగంలో పాల్గొన్న గుర్రాన్ని యాగంలో భాగంగా బలి ఇచ్చే సంప్రదాయం అప్పట్లో ఉండేది. దానితో గుర్రాన్ని బలి ఇవ్వాలని దశరథుడు ఆజ్ఞాపించేందుకు సిద్ధమవుతున్న తరుణంలో శ్రీరామ చంద్రుడు ఆ నిర్ణయాన్ని తప్పుపడతాడు. రాజ్యానికి ఎదురులేదని దేశం మొత్తం తిరిగి చాటిచెప్పిన గుర్రానికి మనమిచ్చే బహుమతి ఇదా...? దాన్ని బలి ఇచ్చేందుకు అంగీకరించేది లేదని తేల్చి చెపుతాడు.
ఐతే రాజ్యంలోని ప్రజలంతా గుర్రాన్ని బలి ఇచ్చి తీరాల్సిందేనంటూ నినాదాలు చేస్తారు. ఆ సమయంలో దశరథుడికి ఏం చేయాలో అయోమయంలో పడతాడు. పెద్ద కుమారుడు రాముడు మాత్రం తన మొండితనాన్ని విడవడు. గుర్రాన్ని బలి ఇచ్చేందుకు ససేమిరా అంటాడు. దానితో ఏం చేయాలో పాలుపోని దశరథుడు మంత్రితో ఏం చేయాలో సలహా ఇవ్వమని అడుగుతాడు. అప్పుడు మంత్రి శ్రీరామచంద్రునితో... కుమారా రామా... నువ్వు చెప్పదలచుకున్నది ప్రజలకు స్పష్టంగా తెలియజేయి. ప్రజామోదం నీకు పూర్తిగా లభించినట్లయితే నీ అభీష్టము మేరకు గుర్రాన్ని బలి ఇవ్వడం ఆపవచ్చు అని చెపుతాడు.

అప్పుడు శ్రీరామచంద్రుడు గుర్రం అన్ని దిక్కులా తిరిగి రాజ్యానికి వచ్చి మన రాజ్యం గౌరవాన్ని ఇనుమడింపజేసిందనీ, మన గౌరవాన్ని, తిరుగులేని విజయాలను వెంటబెట్టుకుని వచ్చిన ఈ గుర్రానికి మనం ఇచ్చే బహుమతి దాన్ని హత్య చేయడమా..? ఇది నేను అంగీకరించడం లేదు. నాతో ఏకీభవించేవారు నాతో చేయి కలపండి. కాదన్నవారు తమతమ సూచనలు చేయవచ్చు అని తెలుపుతాడు. రాముడి మాటలకు రాజ్యంలో కొద్దిసేపు నిశ్శబ్దం. తొలుత ఓ వృద్ధురాలు, రామయ్య నిర్ణయాన్ని నేను ఆమోదిస్తున్నా అని తెలుపుతుంది.
ఆ తర్వాత ఇంకొకరు.. ఇలా రాజ్యంలో ఉన్నవారంతా రామ నిర్ణయానికి ఆమోదం తెలుపుతారు. అలా రాముడి ప్రతి అడుగును గమనిస్తూ ముందుకు సాగుతారు. ఈ క్రమంలో శ్రీరాముడి జీవితంలో ఎదుర్కొన్న ఆటుపోట్లను అధిగమించిన తీరును గమనిస్తారు. సమస్యల నుంచి పారిపోయే పిరికివాడిలా కాక ధీశాలిగా ఆయన సమస్యలపై పోరాడిన తీరును చూసి ఆదర్శమూర్తిగా ఆయనను కొలిచారు. కొలుస్తూనే ఉన్నారు. అందువల్లనే శ్రీరామ చంద్రుడు ఎన్ని కష్టాలను ఎదుర్కొన్నా ఆయన జీవితమే ఎందరో భారతీయులకు ఆదర్శం. శ్రీరామ నవమి సందర్భంగా మీకు, మీ కుటుంబ సభ్యులందరికీ శుభాకాకంక్షలు.
